Local History

YWCA of Northwest Louisiana, whose aim was to implement the YWCA’s mission to eliminate racism and empower women in the Shreveport community, was incorporated on March 10, 1925.  From that time through the years, the YWCA has been one of our community’s most respected organizations.

Programs and services offered includes:

  • Trauma Recovery program
  • LEAD (Leadership, Empowerment, and Development) for at-risk girls age 11-18
  • Young Women Choosing Action Trauma-Informed program
  • Senior Advocacy program
  • Parent Education & Support program
  • Fresh Start program
  • Racial Justice
  • FREE Coalition Anti-Human Trafficking program

In addition, in 2018 the YWCA opened FAB Finds Resale Boutique to help raise unrestricted funds to help cover the cost of operations.
